Plants in the OFFICE, a must for your productivity and well-being!

Plants in the OFFICE, a must for your productivity and well-being!

Did you know that plants can also take care of you? We'd like to explain why in this blog, and also do some advertising for ourselves: did you know that GRUUN offers a plant styling service? We love to make the best match between your workspace and our green friends.

During these summer months, life seems to be moving at a softer pace and everyone is enjoying a quieter period, hopefully combined with some holidays. But September is already peeking around the corner and soon you'll be back in the office. Did you know that plants can also take care of you? We'd like to explain why in this blog, and also do some advertising for ourselves: did you know that GRUUN offers a plant styling service? We love to make the best match between your workspace and our green friends.

Yes yes, those girls at GRUUN sure are smart, with their marketing tactics all the time! But did you know that it was actually scientifically proven that plants in an office space can boost productivity by up to 15%? If you look at that on an 8-hour workday, that means that after 6h and 12min you can actually have all your work done. 15% is a lot!

And it's really not a lie, because it's been proven by a study from very serious universities. Namely those of Cardiff, Exeter & Queensland: they joined forces and investigated in real office spaces, with a "clean" interior and plants, whether that green company effectively had a positive effect. And it does! But why, you wonder?

WELL-BEING

We feel better anyway when we are surrounded by greenery. We need nature, even if it is in the form of an urban jungle or green work environment. This also makes you as an employee feel that your employer really cares about you, and all this promotes not only the work atmosphere but also your mental well-being

The Norwegian University of Life Sciences also did another study on longer term sick leaves with employees who do have plants in their offices. There was a small, yet significant difference, with employees who had no plants. Hooray! Your physical well-being gets better, too.

STRESS & FOCUS

Another benefit? Productivity, of course, is synonymous with focus. The study showed that employees with a green office space are better able to maintain their focus and remember things. Why? The air is cleaner in the office. Logical, because it is refreshed by plants, and CO2 is actively converted into O2. The scientists liked to compare it to a walk in nature: no time to take a stroll during your workday? No problem. Put a plant on your desk (and occasionally jump right off your chair to get that blood flowing)!

Your focus, like your well-being, is often accompanied by stress as well. But here, too, there were only good results. Plants reduce office stress by up to -12%. So proved a study by Washington State University. And the employees surveyed were also found to be much faster at answering questions....

ONLY BENEFITS

Yes, that's clear now. So only benefits! And just a little extra work: give those green friends a little water now and then, and everything will be fine. But which plants are best to put in your office?

Well, we'd love to help you with that. Stop by GRUUN and together we will find the perfect plants for your space. It depends on the space itself, the light and of course how often you yourself are in the office (and thus: how much water and care you can give to the plants).

"Lead researcher Marlon Nieuwenhuis, from Cardiff University's School of Psychology, said, "Our research suggests that investing in landscaping the office with plants will pay off through an increase in office workers' quality of life and productivity."
